4 Insider Tips for a Family Vacation at Our Hotel in Pigeon Forge TN
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is the ultimate family vacation destination! Our Smoky Mountain city offers the perfect mix of natural beauty and fun attractions. When you stay at All Season Suites, you will be minutes away from all of the best things to see and do in the area. To help you make the most of your getaway, All Season Suites has put together four insider tips for enjoying your time at our hotel in Pigeon Forge TN and the Smoky Mountain region.
1. Try to Coordinate Your Trip with One of the Festivals at Dollywood
Dollywood is Pigeon Forge’s most famous attraction, and with good reason! Owned by Smoky Mountain native Dolly Parton, this incredible theme park offers thrilling rides, world class shows, and delicious Southern food. While Dollywood is a great place to spend the day throughout the year, we recommend planning your visit around one of the park’s festivals. Here is a quick look at Dollywood’s five major festivals and when they typically occur (please note that all dates are approximate):
- National Southern Gospel & Harvest Celebration (September 30 – October 29)
- Smoky Mountain Christmas (November 5 – January 1)
- Festival of Nations (March 19 – April 18)
- Barbeque & Bluegrass (May 13 – May 22)
- Summer Lives Here (June 11 – August 7)
Guests at our hotel in Pigeon Forge TN will be just a 5 minute drive away from the Dollywood theme park!
2. Take Advantage of the Pigeon Forge Trolleys
The Pigeon Forge Fun Time Trolley system is a convenient and affordable way to get around the Smokies. Rides are just fifty cents (free for children 3 and under), and the trolleys go to all of the area’s most popular destinations, including various locations along the Parkway, Dollywood, Dollywood’s Splash Country, the Gatlinburg Welcome Center, and Wears Valley. Taking the trolley to Dollywood is a great way to save money, as you will avoid paying the park’s $12 parking fee. All Season Suites is just a short walk from a trolley stop!
3. Use the Wears Valley Entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Most people who vacation in Pigeon Forge drive through Gatlinburg to enter the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. For a quieter way to get to the park, we suggest using the “secret entrance” to the Smokies located in Wears Valley. You’ll avoid the traffic of the Parkway, and you’ll enjoy some breathtaking mountain views!
To get to Wears Valley, take Wears Valley Road off of the Parkway. After about 20 minutes, continue onto Lyon Springs Lane and take Wear Cove Gap Road. At the entrance to the park, you will find the scenic Metcalf Bottoms picnic area, which is located on the Little River.
