The coming of spring in the Smoky Mountains is an exciting time of the year, and there are some events in Pigeon Forge that help with that. As the snow gradually melts from the mountaintops, giving way for flowers to bloom, visitors start arriving in larger numbers. That means there are more events taking place, and we’ll show you 5 you’ll want to know more about!

1. A Full Lineup of Theater Showscountry tonite theater

Some of the theater shows take a couple months off during the slow season in January and February. March is the month when you can have your pick of any of the great entertainment since they are all back to dazzling audiences!  ​Country Tonite​ hits the play button at the end of March. They’re all great, so the best one is whichever one you decide to attend!

2. A Mountain Quiltfest

If you’re a fan of quilting or just like to admire the artwork, the annual Mountain Quiltfest is one of the great spring events in Pigeon Forge you’ll want to see. This is a 5-day event is held at the beginning of March and features quilting accessories, classes, and of course, a large selection of quilts all for your viewing pleasure. There’s a chance you might find your very own creative streak after browsing through this event!

3. Spring Rod Run

One of the biggest car shows in the Smoky Mountains every year is the ​Spring Rod Run​. Car enthusiasts near and far flock to the area to see hundreds of classics that you don’t normally come across on a daily basis anymore. The LeConte Center is the venue for this popular event. There will be plenty of vendors onsite selling everything from T-shirts to tasty treats that will give you a nice break after walking every single square foot of space filled with shiny metal!

Even though this is not an event in Pigeon Forge, it allows you to see the true beauty that makes up the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. For decades, this has been an opportunity for many to get a professionally-guided tour of its richness in plant features that make it quite colorful this time of year. Over 900 people came to see the beautiful wildflowers during the 2019 Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage and just as many, if not more, are expected to come this year. 

5. Chuck Wagon Cookoff

Clabough’s Campground is the setting for the ​Chuck Wagon Cookoff​ held during the beginning of April. This is a unique and fun event that features chuck wagon cook teams competing for the best prepared meals. In addition to getting some outstanding grub, there’s a wide variety of fun activities for kids and adults. Tickets are limited, so if you want some old-fashioned entertainment, this is the perfect opportunity for you and your family!
